“PUBLIC USE DEFIBRILATOR” POLICY

Blackwood Medical Practice is happy to announce that the installation of the “public use defibrillator” on its outside wall is now complete.

Our Practice will provide maintenance of this device, which will include supplying of electricity, registering the device with the Scottish Ambulance Service, performing monthly checks and replacing defibrillator pads. The maintenance that we provide will be subjected to review on a yearly basis.

We would ask you to kindly take note that;

    1. The defibrillator remains the property of the members of the public who purchased it.
    2. In the event of an emergency, you should phone 999 as usual and the ambulance service will advise you on if, when and how to use the defibrillator, if appropriate.
    3. Our Practice is unable to accept any responsibility for its use, which is intended to be by the public.  We would, of course, use the defibrillator as appropriate if there was a cardio-respiratory arrest witnessed within the Practice premises.

The defibrillator is an excellent piece of equipment to have in our community. We would like to congratulate the residents of Kirkmuirhill and Blackwood on this achievement.
